By Air: Coimbatore district harbors its own airport. ‘The Coimbatore International Airport’, situated at Peelamedu is about 10 km from the heart of the city. The airport is facilitated with two terminals. One of them is used for departure operations and the other, for arrivals. The Coimbatore Airport is very well connected with major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Madras, Bangalore, Calicut and Cochin through domestic airlines. And international flights connect Coimbatore with countries like Dubai, Kuwait, Bangkok, Sharjah, Bahrain, Kuala Lumpur, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Doha, Colombo, Singapore and so on.

By Rail: ‘Coimbatore Junction’ is the major railway base at Coimbatore. The trains running to and from here link Coimbatore with many important India cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kanyakumari, Trivandrum, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Calicut, Gorakhpur, Howrah, Jaipur, Rajkot, Indore, Kanpur, Patna, Jammu, etc. Apart from the main junction, there are two important railway junctions namely Podanur and Coimbatore North. Other smaller train stations include , Singanallur, Peelamedu, Perianaikanpalayam, Somanur, Irugur, Sulu and Madukkarai. Coimbatore Junction ranks second amongst the highest revenue generating stations in south India after Chennai.

By Road:Tamil Nadu state transport buses, Karnataka state transport buses and Kerala state transport buses, plus private buses run to and from Coimbatore and bridge it with numerous cities and towns of all these three states. Three national highways; NH – 47, NH – 67 and NH – 209 pass through Coimbatore. Avinashi road, Satyamangalam road, Trichy road, Mettupalayam road, Marudhamalai road and Pallakad road are 6 major roads connecting different parts of the city.
The city corporation of Coimbatore has set up and maintained a very efficient and useful road network of 635.32 kilo meters. The town bus station is situated in Gandhipuram. The five major bus stands of Coimbatore are Gandhipuram bus stand, Singanallur Bus Stand, Thiruvalluvar or SETC Bus Stand, Ukkadam Bus Stand and Mettupalayam Road Bus stand. Around 800 intra city buses run on 228 routs. The ratio between vehicle and population in Coimbatore is very high.
